In addition to having our EP available on our website, we decided to throw up a number of live tracks for your auditory enjoyment. We put up a number of original tunes from our shows at the Celebrate Fairfax festival and DC9. But since we are at heart a jamband and we love improvising at our shows, we decided to give you all a sample of some of our favorite improvisatory moments on stage by putting up a few of our favorite jams from our most recent shows. All tracks can be found under “Hear Us.”

Hot off the heels of our big gig opening for Blues Traveler, The Method has received some awards we’re particularly proud of.
We were named Runner Up in Relix Magazine’s Jam Off, a national competition for unsigned artists who have links to the jamband community. As jamband fans, all the guys in the band were thrilled to be recognized by the community’s biggest publication. We’ll have some press in their September 2009 issue, so stay tuned!
“The Boulevard” also received Honorable Mention in Mike Pinder’s Songwars Competition, proving once again that Justin Shuster does in fact write some pretty good tunes.
For all you DC people, we’ll be rocking the Washington Nationals’ pre-game party Thursday, July 16 at The Bullpen. This is an amazing outdoor venue literally right across the street from the entrance to the stadium. The Nats will be playing the Cubbies, the beer will be much cheaper than inside the stadium, and The Method will be playing a fresh 2-hour set for you auditory enjoyment. Don’t forget about our big show in New York a week later on the 25th at The Bitter End. This could be our biggest throwdown to date.
Lastly, we’re thrilled to be playing World Cafe Live in Philadelphia in mid-September. East coast music lovers know that WCL is an amazing place to catch national acts as they pass through the City of Brotherly Love. We’re looking forward to having the opportunity to play there as well.

The big moment has finally arrived. On Friday, June 5, The Method will open for Blues Traveler at the Celebrate Fairfax festival.

We play immediately before Blues Traveler on the Rock’n Blues Stage. We’ll take the stage around 6:30 and play until 7:30 or so. BT will follow at 8:00. We’ll have CDs and brand new t-shirts for sale as well, so make a pit stop at the merchandise table. The festival is a great evening of good music outdoors, so we hope you’re planning on making the trip out to Fairfax!
If you can’t make it on Friday, The Method will be warming up in full force at DC9 on Wednesday night. We love playing this room and we’ll be headlining along with two local acts. Expect The Method to play from 10-midnight. DC9 is located at 9th and U St. NW, 2 blocks from the U St. metro in an awesome area of the city.

We just received an offer we couldn’t pass up – a chance to play at The Bullpen, the outdoor bar adjacent to the Nationals’ ballpark, THIS FRIDAY NIGHT – MAY 22. We’ll be rocking from 9:30pm-midnight in the cool evening breeze. Catch a game and get down afterwards. Or skip the baseball and just party with us. We don’t care. But the promoter for the venue told us to expect A THOUSAND PEOPLE. You wouldn’t want to miss that type of party, would you?

The Method is thrilled to announce that it will be playing The Bitter End, a legendary music club in The Village, on Saturday, July 25. We will grace the stage once graced by legends like Bob Dylan. This will undoubtedly be an awesome night of music starting around 10pm. We encourage all of our fans in NYC to come out and get down (we’ll be up there partying all weekend, so let’s make it epic).

After winning Ontap’s Battle of the Bands tonight, The Method will be opening for Blues Traveler on Friday, June 5 at the Celebrate Fairfax! festival. We will keep you posted as more information rolls in, but keep checking back for updates. We’ll also have a bunch of pictures from tonight’s show up soon.
In the meantime, you can check out the festival’s website: http://www.celebratefairfax.org/index.asp
To all our dedicated fans who have been so instrumental in our success lately, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Tonight felt like a million dollars. As soon as we took the stage – before the first song even started – we felt like we were ready to do something special, and we attributed that to the energy we were feeling from all of you.
We’ll be taking a couple weeks to get ready for a busy month of June. We’re headlining at DC9 on U St. on June 3, which will be a solid warmup for the festival on the 5th. Then we hit the road and head to Baltimore on June 10. Join us.

…to everyone who came out to The Rock and Roll Hotel to celebrate the release of “Boulevard Sessions EP.” We thought the show was a huge success, thanks to the unbelievable support from the crowd. You guys were the best audience we’ve ever played for. If you came to the show, we hope you enjoy the CD. If not, you can stream all four tracks off the EP by clicking on the “Hear Us” tab. We promise to make these tunes downloadable soon.
The key now is to build off the momentum of the show, the EP, and our recent article in The Washingtonian. We’re exploring opportunities to play in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City. We hope the next few months will see the band traveling up and down the East Coast making new fans along the way.
Keep checking back here for more updates and announcements. We hope you’ll spread the word about The Method to all your friends and get them to come out to future shows.
Thanks again,
Brian, Dave, Justin, Satya, Scott, Tim

We’re pleased to make all four tracks from “Boulevard Sessions EP” available for streaming online. Just click on the “Hear Us” tab to check out The Method’s new disc. We’ll also be making the songs available for download at cdbaby.com. We should have that finalized this weekend.
Don’t forget to come out to The Rock and Roll Hotel for a night of mayhem and good music…and to get a free CD.

A week or so before we release the disc, we decided to give everyone a free preview of two of the tracks on “Boulevard Sessions EP.” Click on the “Hear” tab to check out “Are You Lonely” and “The Boulevard,” two of bassist Justin Shuster’s finest musical brainchildren.
We hope you’ll join us at Rock and Roll Hotel on Friday, April 3 to release the CD. If you can’t make it, we’ll make the tunes available for download on iTunes shortly after the show.

It’s O-S-C-A-R. Our EP has a second name, it’s…
Ok, we’re pleased to report that we’ve named our EP, after vigorous debate and a roll call vote (we are democracy in action).
On Friday, April 3, at The Rock and Roll Hotel, The Method will release “Boulevard Sessions EP.”
By now, you know the drill. See the next post for additional details.

We’ll be returning to our favorite place in the city, The Rock and Roll Hotel, on Friday, April 3 for a very special occassion: the release of our new EP! For the last six weeks, we’ve spent a lot of time and energy at Brian Dodds’ studio in Leesburg trying to churn out an EP we could circulate broadly. We selected our four favorite songs, picked them apart, beat every last detail to death, took 90 takes, and the end result was “The Method EP” – a product we’re extremely proud of and cannot wait to share with you.
We’ll be headlining on the 3rd, but we’ll have a great lineup before we take the stage. We recommend you come early and stay till the end. An extremely popular DC band, The Frustrations, will kick things off from 9:30-10:15. Another excellent local group, Stella Mira, will play next from 10:30-11:15. The Method will bring the house down from 11:30 until closing time.
We’ll have some surprises on stage for your auditory enjoyment (and of course free CDs for everyone). We’ll also have press at the show and a film crew making a “rockumentary” of the band.
Come spend the 3rd with us at RRH. It’s always a giant party there, and always a giant party with us. See you there!

Long overdue, but better late than never, we’ve created a mailing list for everyone’s informational needs. Just click on the “Reach Us” tab above, fill out the form, and we’ll send you periodic updates with upcoming shows, audio and video tracks, and juicy band gossip (breaking news – Justin wears pants…but only sometimes!).

The Method will kick off a charity event at DC9 for DC Voting Rights at 7:45. We’ll be playing until 8:45 and then turning things over to our friends WMD until 10:30 or so. 10 bucks to get in, but proceeds are for a good cause (no more disenfranchisement!) and the music won’t be terrible, now will it?
Seasoned Methodists will remember that DC9 is home to some of our better shows. It’s also a pretty awesome venue in a great part of town. What else are you doing on Sunday? Watching football?

Click on the “Hear” tab above for the new goods. Thanks to our good friend Kenzie for shooting some solid video clips from our gig at Jammin Java in January. We now have our first documented footage of Justin’s new rocker “Will Is Gone.” In addition, Kenzie managed to shoot all the solos and the climactic ending of “Dog Without A Tail,” another Justin original that we kind of enjoy playing. But only kind of.
Don’t forget The Method will be hitting Clarendon Grill hard with two sets on Thursday the 5th. Our friend from NYC Tanner Walle will be opening things up around 8:30. We’ll have our game faces on around 9:30 and won’t take them off until well past midnight.
Come early – no cover. Come a bit late – only five bones.
Do it up.

The Method wishes you a Happy New Year! We hope you spent it with friends and family, and drank more than your fair share of champagne. As we look ahead into 2009, we’re also thrilled with what we accomplished last year. 2008 saw the band break onto the D.C. and NOVA scenes, headlining important clubs like The Rock and Roll Hotel and DC9. We continuously honed our sound, adding more and more originals that we love to our repertoire. We also grew in size, adding BDodds and Scotty to our original foursome, and they have unquestionably taken The Method to the next level. We think our December 20 show at The Rock and Roll Hotel was the culmination of all of our progress during 2008, and we’re incredibly grateful so many of you were there to share the experience with us and provide us with such tremendous feedback. We’re excited to improve our sound even more in the upcoming year.
We expect 2009 to be a breakthrough year for us. In addition to our January shows at two highly regarded venues in the Arlington area – IOTA and Jammin’ Java – we will also return to The Clarendon Grill in early February for three hours of our traditional blend of uptown grooves, funk, and progressive improv jams. Without a doubt, The Method will be scheduling more and more shows and will pursue a more ambitious agenda in 2009. Thank you so much for your support, enthusiasm and friendship thus far. It means a lot to us to have the opportunity and privilege to perform for you, and we hope you’ll continue to join us for even more fun this year.
